‘Georgia Rule’ Director Marshall Offers Support For Lindsay Lohan

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Lindsay Lohan is receiving some support from her former director, Garry Marshall.

Garry, who directed Lindsay alongside Felicity Huffman and screen legend Jane Fonda for 2007’s “Georgia Rule,” opened up to Access Hollywoodabout working with the young actress and said he and Lindsay “got along fine.”

“[Lindsay and I] had a good time — I feel bad that she’s going through all this and I hope she gets it together,” Garry told Access Hollywood on Friday at Operation Smile’s 9th Annual Smile Gala in Los Angeles. “She’s gotta go through the process… She said she thought she was good, she slipped, she’s back and forth, but you know, she’s got a great heart, she's a very kind person and as soon as she gets situated where she can change, this is what we need.”

While he’s not certain what course of action would be best for the troubled starlet in light of her recent missteps, Garry asserts that Lindsay is a very capable actress.

“I am not a psychiatrist, I’m a film director — which is part psychiatrist, mind you!” he laughed. “I got to know her — she’s young and going through the Hollywood process of being in front of everybody and all the media, and that affects you.

“I hope she can come out of it, because she’s really, really talented,” he added. “[She’s] really a good actress. So I hope she doesn’t waste this gift that she was given.”

Lindsay Lohan gets in a little bonding time with a few homeless teenagers at the Dream Center on Sunday (September 26) in Los Angeles.

Lindsay gave autographs and took pictures with the children and families. She even gave out some purses to the girls, according to E!

She later wrote on her Twitter, “What a great place The Dream Center is here in LA… had a nice time there today, it’s so important to give back. I feel blessed.”

She is someone who has her own charity, and is someone who sincerely wants to help the world and is actively doing so. And it isn't really her fault that she ended up like that. Adderall was very much likely the reason to make her end up this way. She was misdiagnosed with hyperactivity by her doctors, and they prescribed her Adderall. Taking Adderall has been compared to taking cocaine or meth. She is misdiagnosed with hyperactivity, so she took Adderall. Is that her fault or her doctor's fault? The doctors prescribed her the wrong drug which made her behaved like that! Furthermore, tabloid gossips and the media have wildly exaggerated her downfall, her plight and her psychiatric condition. Her doctors at UCLA Medical Centre believed that there was nothing wrong with her, she was misdiagnosed with hyperactivity disorder and bipolar disorder. And just before you say that her doctors at UCLA assessed her wrongly, then you are wrong because UCLA is an established and very professional medical centre who gives professional and excellent care. Imagine being a young child and having a full time career, what that would be like as far as responsibility and maturity. Not only a child with a full time job, but one with a job in the pubic eye which produces a different variable to do normal activities such as go to your high prom or even shop with friends at the mall. It certainly would cause one to grow up entirely too fast and at times be rather challenging to make and trust friends or peers. With all that in mind, is it really that unreasonable to imagine someone that had endured fame at such a young age such as Lindsay to find herself using drugs or alcohol now as an adult? If you take a glance at pop culture and how the world is turning into a place for celebrities to become even more famous, the vast majority of these young celebrities are having drug or alcohol related problems. In recent years more of them are overdosing and dying at younger ages than ever before. The main concern being that Lindsay will be the next fatality.

While Lindsay may or may not have a legitimate alcohol problem, her parents seem to be taking the opportunity to publicly bash each other and for that reason many are becoming very skeptical that she in fact may not have an issue at all. Lindsay’s mother Dina is not shy about expressing her feelings for her ex-husband Michael who has had his own run ins with the law over the past few years. While Michael does not comment as much regarding his relations with his ex-wife, he does publicly acknowledge his daughter’s addiction problems. Dina has made several public appearances to defend Lindsay’s actions with a recent trip to the Today Show this month where she yet again appeared to be directing most of her daughter’s issues toward the example her ex-husband has set for Lindsay.

It is one thing for divorced couples to not think fondly of each other, it is another for them to utilize a public forum to express those feelings. While Lindsay makes seldom appearances to discuss her trials and tribulations, her parents seem to be jumping at every chance to use Lindsay’s scandal as method to get their own fifteen minutes of fame to bash each other. Hopefully over the next few months the real issues at hand will be resolved by Lindsay taking her recovery seriously and her parents placing their focus on their daughter’s well being to get her back into the acting scene again.

The ‘Love Story’ singer has taken her father on tour with her and says his cheeky sense of humour can sometimes leave her red-faced.
She wrote on her MySpace blog: “I’m walking into the hotel lobby after returning from dinner. It’s a quiet, serene, beautiful when… Screaming voice from out of nowhere, ‘HEY! THAT’S TAYLOR SWIFT!!’ Me, ‘Dad. Please stop doing that (sic).’”
However, Taylor, 19, is pleased her dad is with her all the time because he keeps her grounded.
She said: “It’s pretty priceless having my dad out here with me.”
Taylor is glad her dad has joined her on tour as she recently revealed she is currently single but doesn’t want to actively seek out a relationship.

Lindsay Lohan has been ordered to gain weight for her new movie.
The ‘Mean Girls’ actress - who has been looking worryingly thin since her break-up from girlfriend Samantha Ronson - was told by producers of ‘The Other Side’ to pile on the pounds because the part requires it.
A source told America’s Star magazine: “Producers want Lindsay looking like a normal, healthy girl, not a skeleton. So they ordered her to rest up and eat more. They refuse to risk her dropping out of the movie because of her problems.”
Lindsay landed the role in the comedy earlier this month, her first big-screen outing since 2007’s flop ‘I Know Who Killed Me’.
Commenting on her casting, the film’s director David Michaels said: “Lindsay’s very aware of people’s perceptions of her. She’s really committed to doing what she has to in order to change that.”
The 22-year-old actress recently complained the attention her personal life attracts is harming her career.
She said: “When I was a kid, I thought movie stars were people who wanted to act in great movies. It’s all I ever wanted to do, but I’ve become this girl who’s seen as someone who parties, who wants to be photographed all the time, isn’t focused and can’t be on time. That’s not true.”

"Twilight" continues its domination at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. Having collected the most counts at the awards' nominations with seven nods, the romantic vampire drama has scored the most kudos at the gala ceremony held on Sunday, May 31. It landed five out of the seven nominations and scored the top honor, the Best Movie title. The actress - whose erratic behaviour since splitting from Samantha Ronson has caused concern - hopes to start a new life in the UK as she feels she won’t be under as much scrutiny.
She said: “I like London, people aren’t as judgemental. It’s more about the fashion or music industry, not about movies and movie stars. It’s a different scene.

Twilight descends on MTV Awards

‘Twilight’ leads the nominations for the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.
The teen vampire thriller has seven nods in six categories, including Best Movie, Best Female Performance for Kirsten Stewart and Best Breakthrough Performance Male for actors Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.
‘Twilight’ will go head-to-head on the night with ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, which is up for six accolades.
The two films will compete in the Best Movie category, while ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ lead star Dev Patel will battle Robert and Taylor in the Best Breakthrough Performance Male category.
Dev’s co-star and rumoured girlfriend Freida Pinto is up for the Best Breakthrough Performance Female prize.
The other nominees in the Best Movie list are ‘The Dark Knight’, ‘High School Musical 3: Senior Year’ and ‘Iron Man’.
One prize which sees ‘Twilight’ and ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ excluded is for the Best Male Performance.
Christian Bale - who played Batman in ‘The Dark Knight’ - ‘Iron Man’ star Robert Downey Jr., Shia LaBeouf, who is nominated for his role in Eagle Eye, ‘Fast and Furious’ actor Vin Diesel and ‘High School Musical 3: Senior Year’ star Zac Efron will battle it out for the gong.
MTV has also added two new categories for this year’s awards - Best Song From a Movie and the Best WTF Moment, which will recognise the most outrageous scene from the last year’s films.
Eminem has already been confirmed to perform at the ceremony and more acts will be announced in the coming weeks.

Britney Spears is buying a £15,000 oxygen chamber to protect her voice.
The ‘Womanizer’ singer - who reportedly lip synchs to her songs during performances on her current world tour - is set to splash out the sum because she is terrified of “bad air” ruining her career.
The move comes after Britney stormed off stage in Vancouver, Canada, because the arena was too smoky last month.
A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “Since her Vancouver show, where she ran off stage as it was too smoky, she’s become paranoid about breathing in too much bad air.
“She’s keen on an oxygen chamber that will reverse any smoke inhalation damage.”
Fans at the 27-year-old’s Canadian concert in her ‘The Circus starring Britney Spears’ tour were told the show was stopped because of people smoking cigarettes and marijuana in the arena, making it “unsafe” for Britney and her performers.
Britney later returned to the stage to continue the show, and at the end of her set she told the audience: “Thanks Vancouver. You were wonderful. Drive safe. Don’t smoke weed!”
‘The Circus starring Britney Spears’ is currently finishing its US leg, and scheduled to kick off in Europe with eight shows at London’s O2 arena from June 3.

Lindsay Lohan is scared of filling cars with gas.
The ‘Mean Girls’ actress - who has been involved in several car crashes and is currently serving three years probation after pleading guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) - insists she is a safe driver, but admits she hates stopping at petrol stations.
She said: “I’m really bad at pumping gas. I’m afraid I’m going to spill it. I get nervous and then I get really nervous that someone is going to pull up with a cigarette!”
Lindsay, 22 - who has been in rehab three times and whose turbulent relationship with 31-year-old DJ Samantha Ronson recently ended - insists she is not as much of a party animal as many people think, claiming she simply enjoys spending time with her friends.
Lindsay added she thinks she scares a lot of people because she always speaks her mind.
She explained to Britain’s OK! magazine: “I am very honest and direct. That is not always a good thing because it intimidates people. But I’m not going to change myself for anyone.”

Britney Spears is “crying out for help”.
The ‘Circus’ singer is desperately trying to escape from her controlling father, her former attorney’s lawyer told a Los Angeles court yesterday (21.04.09).
Jamie Spears - who took legal control of his troubled daughter’s personal and professional affairs last year - is trying to obtain permanent restraining orders against the singer’s former manager Sam Lutfi, attorney Jon Eardley and lover Adnan Ghalib.
Eardley’s lawyer Roger Diamond wants Britney to testify in court because he believes she is being held prisoner by her father.
He said: “Britney Spears is crying out for help”.
The 27-year-old singer’s legal team refutes the claims, calling the men “predators” who have “patently threatened and continually harassed” Britney.
The temporary restraining orders against all three men were extended until April 28, when the judge will hear rebuttal arguments before making a final decision.
Britney is currently performing in ‘The Circus Starring Britney Spears’, her first concert tour in five years.

Emma Watson will be an “uncontrollable” wreck when she finishes filming ‘Harry Potter’.
The British star is devastated at the thought of not working with the cast and crew members when shooting on the hit franchise wraps next year.
She said: “I will be uncontrollable. It’s been half of our lives. It’s made us, it’s formed us. It’s such a big part of my life, so it will be really sad - and so much of the crew who have been there since the beginning are like my family.”

She explained to Interview magazine: “To be honest, we see so much of each other when we’re working that hanging out together would be overload. I love them, but I need to see other friends off set. They’re like my siblings now.
“We will always be very important to each other. But, at the same time, after eight ‘Harry Potter’ films, we’ll be ready to go and do other things, and be other people, and have time for ourselves.”

A source told gossip website X17online: “They looked very couple-y, sitting real close to each other in the car.”
This is the first time Rihanna, 21, has been spotted out with a man since she and Chris decided to take time away from each other to reflect on their relationship.
Chris has been charged with felony assault and making criminal threats after he allegedly punched, bit and choked Rihanna until she was unconscious in his car on February 8.
Although Rihanna and Chris, 19, initially reunited after the incident, they have not been seen together in recent weeks.
Chris sparked rumours he has moved on when he was spotted visiting a tattoo parlour with Girlicious singer Natalie Mejia.
Natalie refused to deny reports she was romantically involved with Chris, saying at the time: “Things are going well between us but I really do not want to comment much more than that right now.”

The ‘Mean Girls’ actress attended the grand opening of burlesque production ‘Peepshow’ - starring Mel B - and met the topless show’s director Jerry Mitchell on Saturday (18.04.09).
It is believed Lindsay is keen to take over from Mel’s co-star Kelly Monaco in a bid to resurrect her fading acting career.
A source told Fox News: “Lindsay is in official negotiations to take over from Monaco who wants to move on and get back to work on ‘General Hospital’. Mel B reportedly intends to stay on once her three-month contract is finished.
“People forget that Lindsay is a triple threat - she can act and sing and dance. She feels that this would really revitalise her career.”
Lindsay was overheard telling Mel - who appears in a series of ultra-revealing outfits - she loves the adult show, and reportedly confided to friends: “If they make me an offer, and the money’s right, I’ll do it.”
If the 22-year-old actress does join the cast, it is believed she will play Bo Peep - a timid girl who is transformed into a confident, sexy woman by Peep Diva, played by Mel.
However, she is not the only star being considered for ‘Peepshow’.
The source added: “The producers are very interested in Lindsay and would be more than happy to take the risk of having the troubled star come on board. But it’s a toss between Lohan, Hugh Hefner’s ex-girlfriend Holly Madison and Brooke Burke for the racy role.”

Britney Spears burglar arrested

A woman has been arrested for breaking into Britney Spears’ property.
Miranda Tozier-Robbins, 26, was found peering through the windows of the ‘Womanizer’ singer’s home in Calabasas, California, dressed in camouflage fatigues and carrying a video camera and backpack yesterday morning (16.04.09).
When security guards discovered Tozier-Robbins they politely asked her to leave, but she reportedly “balked at their requests” and had to be physically removed from the property.
She was taken to a police station and booked on charges of trespassing and disorderly conduct.
Her bail was set at $5,000, but she was eventually released on a citation. She will appear in court on June 16.
Britney was not at the property at the time of the incident, but performed at the nearby Los Angeles Staples Centre as part of her ‘Circus’ tour last night.
Meanwhile, the mother of the backing dancer Britney is rumoured to be dating has rubbished the romance.
Chase Benz’s mother Diane said: “Chase has already got a girlfriend. Her name is Tessa Campbell and she is a fantastic girl. Chase comes back to Tennessee whenever he can to see her.
“They’ve been going out for three years - she’s the same age and they are great together. She’s so sweet.”
It has been claimed Britney and Chase - who is working as a dancer on her tour - have been romancing each other for three weeks.
It is not the first time the 27-year-old singer has fallen for one of her backing dancers.
She met ex-husband Kevin Federline when he worked for her, and went on to have two children - Sean Preston, three, and Jayden James, two - with him.

The ‘Changeling’ star won 58 per cent of the votes in an online poll conducted by Vanity Fair magazine.
Supermodel Gisele Bundchen - who wed American football star Tom Brady in February - came a distant second with only nine per cent.
Four per cent of respondents chose ‘Gothika’ star Halle Berry, handing her third place.
The survey asked women to choose the most attractive lady from a list of 19 famous women, including singer Beyonce Knowles, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, model Bar Refaeli, Queen Rania of Jordan and Carla Bruni - the wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
On its’ website, Vanity Fair said: “Of the billions of women on this planet, only 19, we believe, could start wars.
“These modern-day Helens of Troy come from both hemispheres and include legends and ingenues, a queen, a First Lady and at least two bedmates of Leonardo DiCaprio.”
DiCaprio previously dated Gisele and is currently in a relationship with Israeli supermodel Bar.
It’s not the first time Angelina - who raises six children with her long-term partner Brad Pitt - has won a title of this kind.
Last month, she topped a list of the world’s most beautiful people compiled by Australian magazine Who.
Kate Winslet came second in the antipodean survey.

The ‘Mean Girls’ actress - who recently split from her DJ girlfriend Samantha Ronson - features in a spoof dating clip, where she tells viewers she is desperate to settle down.
Referring to her on/off relationship with Samantha and her conviction for driving under the influence (DUI), Lindsay says: “Hi, my name is Lindsay and I’m searching for love. I’m recently single - I think - and I’m looking for someone who I can spend the rest of my life with, or at least the rest of my probation.”
The 22-year-old star goes on to make fun of the public’s obsession with her private life - she has previously dated Aaron Carter and British model Calum Best and was forced to confirm her relationship with Samantha last year following months of speculation - and of her reputation as a party girl.

Madonna burst into tears during a night out in London yesterday (07.04.09).
The singer was enjoying dinner at Cecconi’s Restaurant in Mayfair with designer Stella McCartney when she reached into her handbag and pulled out a picture of Mercy James, the four-year-old Malawian orphan she is trying to adopt.
But after a few minutes of excited conversation, the 50-year-old star started sobbing while Stella, 37, tried to comfort her.
A fellow diner said: “Madonna was proudly showing a photo of Mercy to Stella.
“But it was clearly too much and the moment overcame her. Stella told her to be strong and gave her a hug as Madonna cried.”
Stella had invited Madonna to dinner in a bid to cheer her up but the pair left soon after the emotional outburst, cutting their meal short.
Madonna and her children Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight, and David, three, flew from Malawi to Britain on Sunday (05.04.09), after a judge rejected the star’s bid to adopt Mercy.
The singer was expecting to be granted custody immediately but Judge Esme Chombo rejected the case because Madonna has not lived in Malawi for 18 months or more.
A friend said: “The last week has been one of the hardest in her life. She’s really relying on her friends to help her through.”
But her sadness at the adoption refusal hasn’t dampened Madonna’s generosity - the star has donated $500,000 to victims of the Italian earthquake.
The ‘4 Minutes’ singer reportedly requested the money be used in her father Silvio Ciccone’s home region of Abruzzo.
More than 200 people have died and thousands more left homeless by the 6.3 magnitude quake which hit the European country on Monday (06.04.09).

The 19-year-old singer - who has pleaded not guilty to felony assault and making criminal threats in relation to his alleged attack on Rihanna - is believed to be struggling to cope with the fallout from his court case.

The ‘Mean Girls’ actress and her DJ girlfriend called time on their tumultuous relationship on Friday (03.04.09) after almost a year together, and Lindsay admits she is struggling to cope on her own.
She said: “It’s absolute hell. It just really hurts, the whole situation is sick.”
Lindsay, 22, was turned away from a party at Los Angeles’ Bar Marmont where Samantha was playing a DJ set late on Friday night, and admits the scenes which unfolded were “humiliating”.

Chris Brown entered a Los Angeles court room on Monday afternoon and plead "not guilty" to the felony charges against him, stemming from the assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna.
The singer's lawyers are said to be hammering out a plea deal with the L.A. District Attorney's office, as they are trying to avoid a court case at all costs.
Asked about a plea deal on Monday, Rihanna's lawyer said, "I believe there are efforts by all parties involved to resolve this case expeditiously. That would be beneficial to everyone. Rihanna would be pleased if this case were resolved quickly and fairly."
The judge scheduled the next hearing for April 29th.

Robert Pattinson required medical help after a metal sign smashed into his head on a film set.
The British actor was reportedly left dazed and bruised when the advertising sign knocked him over during shooting of ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ in Vancouver, Canada.

Zac Efron thinks his fans are “insane”.
The 21-year-old actor was greeted by the deafening shrieks of his young admirers when he arrived at the UK premiere of his new film ‘17 Again’ in London’s Leicester Square last night (26.03.09).
Zac - who rose to fame in Disney’s teen hit ‘High School Musical’ - spent half an hour signing autographs and posing for picture with fans, who overwhelmed him with their enthusiasm and volume.
Speaking about his warm welcome, the actor told BANG Showbiz: “It’s insane. This is the biggest one yet. It’s so crazy.”
In the film, Zac plays the younger self of Mike O’Donnell, a frustrated businessman who gets the chance to be 17 again and change his life.
But if the same thing happened to Zac, he insists he wouldn’t alter his life.
He said: “It’s all going pretty well so far. I wouldn’t do anything differently.”
When it comes to the film, Zac is nervous about how it will be received.
He added: “I can’t wait to see what everybody thinks. It’s definitely different, but this is a movie to bring along the fans, I didn’t do anything too different.”
Asked if he would be prepared to do a full frontal nude scene, Zac said: “You look so excited. I don’t know. Honestly, I don’t know.”
Nude or not, the young star is determined to get rid of his clean-cut image and move into different roles.
He said: “Most of the directors I’d want to work with don’t even know who I am. Their daughters might.”
‘The X Factor’ star Diana Vickers, ‘Harry Potter’ actors Tom Felton and Bonnie Wright, glamour model Danielle Lloyd and ‘High School Musical’ actress Jemma McKenzie-Brown also attended the premiere.

Rihanna and Chris Brown are moving in together.
The ‘Umbrella’ singer - who has been looking at multi-million dollar mansion in the Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles - is planning to set up home with Chris as soon as she chooses a property.
Gossip website X17Online reports: “Once Rihanna moves in to her new pad, Chris Brown will be joining her!”
Rihanna, 21, was spotted looking at properties in the exclusive area - where celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Nicole Richie and Cameron Diaz live - on Monday (23.03.09).
Among the houses she viewed were a $6.5 million four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom property with glass walls, a swimming pool, outdoor theatre and a large garden.
The singer also visited Christina Aguilera’s former home, which boasts four bedrooms and seven bathrooms and costs $6.9 million.
Her next stop was Jerry Seinfeld’s old house, which is on the market for $6.2 million and has three bedrooms, five bathrooms, a gym and swimming pool.
Real estate agent Russ Filice said: “The house has incredible views, a contemporary pool and is very private.
“Rihanna has just started her search for a house. She was in a great mood. Her questions were centered around her lifestyle in the house - how she could entertain, how private it is.”
Chris has been charged with felony assault and making criminal threats following his alleged attack on Rihanna last month.
He is yet to enter a plea and is due in court for an arraignment hearing on April 6. If convicted, he faces up to four years in prison.

The 26-year-old actress will portray the iconic performer in both the movie and stage adaptations of Gerald Clarke’s biography ‘Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland’.
Harvey Weinstein, of The Weinstein Company who secured the film and stage rights of the book, is delighted to have Anne on board.
He said: “We are thrilled to have the brilliantly talented Anne Hathaway portray stage and screen legend Judy Garland. I have worked with Anne on projects in the past and have known her for many years. She will be a true class act in this challenging role.

Former child star Judy - the mother of actress Liza Minnelli - battled a string of addictions and attempted suicide several times.
The ‘Wizard of Oz’ star married five times and suffered financial problems throughout her career.

The ‘Take a Bow’ singer reportedly spent Monday (23.02.09) looking at properties in the same exclusive area of Los Angeles where celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Nicole Richie and Cameron Diaz live, according to X17Online.
Rihanna, 21, is also believed to have viewed Christina Aguilera’s former Hollywood home, which is closer to the city’s shops and clubs than her present house in the quiet neighbourhood of Los Feliz.
While Rihanna has been taking a break from work, her on/off boyfriend Chris Brown - who has been charged with felony assault and making criminal threats following his alleged assault on her last month - has found it hard to concentrate on making his latest album.
Singer Tyrese Gibson - who is close to the 19-year-old singer - said the charges looming over him have left him struggling.
Tyrese told People magazine: “Although he appears to be really strong through all of this, it’s really taking a toll on his spirit.
“People like me and P. Diddy are just trying to show him love and keep his spirits up while he’s going through all of the heat, and there are a lot people doing the same for Rihanna.
“I’m not trying to justify it because wrong is wrong, but unfortunately, us as entertainers, we have to grow up on stage with a lot of people looking at us.”

Madonna to adopt again

Madonna is planning to adopt another African child.
The 50-year-old singer - who in addition to her biological children Lourdes and Rocco also raises three-year-old Malawian son David - is seriously considering advice to further expand her family.
She said: “Many people - especially our Malawian friends - say that David should have a Malawian brother or sister.
“It’s something I have been considering. I would only do if I had the support of the Malawian people and the government.”
Madonna admits the adoption process is a “big struggle” as Malawi has developed new adoption laws in the wake of the public scrutiny surrounding her case to care for David in 2006.
She explained to Malawi’s Nation newspaper: “David’s adoption essentially was the beginning of the creation of adoption laws in Malawi. I am the template or the role model, so to speak, for future adoptions.
“I had my own kind of birthing pain with dealing with the press on my front doorstep, accusing me of kidnapping, or whatever you want to call it.”
Malawian officials formally approved Madonna’s adoption of David last year. Critics had accused the government of ignoring laws that ban non-residents from adopting children in Malawi.
Despite animosity between the ‘Hung Up’ star and ex-husband Guy Ritchie - who loves in London while Madonna has returned to New York - the singer insists they are getting on well for the sake of their children.
She said: “I believe in family. So, everything between us is very amicable. We both agree that our children should always feel a deep connection with both their parents. It is our responsibility to give them that foundation.”
Madonna had planned to adopt a three-year-old Malawian girl, Mercy James, last year but had to scrap plans - which had been under negotiation for two years - because of her divorce proceedings.
Penston Kilembe, Malawi’s director of Child Welfare Services, said: “One fundamental condition in scrutinising adoptions is the connectedness of a family. We can’t approve a child to go into a broken family because the divorce could be the result of the behaviour of the party trying to adopt.”

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson’s latest fight became so violent police were called.
Three Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to calls about a domestic dispute at the couple’s Beachwood Canyon home on Saturday morning (14.03.09).
But the 22-year-old actress and her 31-year-old DJ lover refused to let officers in, screaming at each other so furiously police reportedly called for backup.
Neighbours heard shouting and “things hitting the wall loudly”. One object - believed to be a vase - even smashed a window.
A source said: “One of the windows on the side of the house was completely shattered, like someone had thrown something through it. You could see the shards of glass on the cement walk below.”
The fight comes just a day after the Beverly Hills Police Department issued a warrant for Lindsay’s arrest for violating her probation relating to a 2007 drink-driving conviction.
Sources claim the actress breached her driving restrictions - which allegedly state she is only allowed to get behind the wheel for work - when she drove herself to Las Vegas to attend one of Samantha’s DJ sets.
The ‘Mean Girls’ star claims the charges are “completely fabricated”.
Her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley will go to Beverly Hills Courthouse today (16.03.09) to respond to the arrest warrant, which she said was “born out of a misunderstanding”.
Holley is confident she can “clear it all up”.
Bail has been set at $50,000.
If Lindsay is found to have violated her probation, she could face up to a year in jail.
Hours after police left Lindsay’s house on Saturday, three women arrived carrying blue Alcoholics Anonymous books.
The trio stayed for an hour and as they were leaving, one said Lindsay was “doing good”.
Meanwhile, the actress’ father Michael Lohan has blamed Samantha for Lindsay’s legal woes.
He said: “I love Lindsay. I’ve been telling everyone this relationship with Sam is toxic. Hopefully this is a wake-up call for her because we all really want her to get her life better.
“I’m here for her 100 per cent. But nothing is going to get better with Sam Ronson in her life.”

Lindsay Lohan faces jail for breaching her probation.
A warrant was issued for the actress’ arrest on Friday (13.03.09), claiming she has broken the terms of her 2007 sentence for driving under the influence (DUI) but the ‘Mean Girls’ star’s attorney insists the court summons is “a misunderstanding.”
Her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, said in a statement: “Since her case was resolved, Ms. Lohan has been in compliance with all the terms and conditions of her probation and all orders of the court.
“The warrant issued on Friday was, in our view, born out of a misunderstanding which I am confident I can clear up next week.”
No reason has been given for the warrant, though gossip website TMZ claims representatives of the alcohol treatment programme Lindsay is supposed to attend reported that she had not been complying with her probation terms.
Beverly Hills police officers refused to confirm the claims and say are not actively looking for the 22-year-old star.
Police Lt. Mark Rosen said: “We are not anticipating her surrender this weekend. But if she comes in contact with police, she’s subject to arrest. As for why we’re not actively looking for her, that’s not our procedure for this type of warrant.
“Her attorney is hoping to resolve this issue in the coming week. If it’s not resolved, I’m sure we’ll negotiate her voluntary surrender.”
A court hearing has been scheduled for Monday (16.03.09) morning, where a spokesperson for the Los Angeles district attorney says the presiding judge “has indicated Ms. Lohan should be in attendance.”
Lindsay could be jailed if found to have breached her probation.
The actress was arrested in May 2007 and again in July 2007 for driving under the influence and possession of cocaine.
The arrests led her to serve just 84 minutes in jail. She was also sentenced to 10 hours of community service and three years of probation.

Animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) want to create the unusual vegetarian food by extracting George’s salty perspiration from his used gym towel.
The organisation wrote to the handsome actor asking for permission to create the product, saying: “The technology actually exists to take your perspiration and make it into George Clooney-flavoured tofu (CloFu). Of course, your fans would swoon at the idea of eating CloFu but what interests us most is that we would attract many people who don’t try tofu because they worry that it would be bland or that they wouldn’t know how to cook it.
“The science is pretty straightforward. According to Dr. Kevin Keener of Purdue University, all animals - including human beings - have unique odour profiles. Dr. Harry Lawless of Cornell University reports that if you use a sample of human perspiration, it is no different than making artificial chicken flavour for instant gravy.”
The group obtained the towel from a fan, who was planning to put it up for auction until PETA came up with the alternative idea.
Explaining the product, PETA president Ingrid Newkirk said: “I thought, ‘What would make tofu more attractive to people?’ Cheese-scented CloFu could be used as pizza topping and in lasagne. CloFu will help people be healthier and more environmentally friendly and will spare animals from being killed for the table. I can see people having parties to try CloFu.”
Despite PETA’s excitement about the possible product, George has declined the offer.
The 47-year-old actor released a tongue-in-cheek statement saying: “As a mammal, I’m offended.”

Asked to name the Good Charlotte rocker’s three best qualities, she replied: “Good father! Talented musician! Good personality!”
Nicole is equally as glowing about her daughter, saying she is the most important person in her life.
She explained: “Harlow means everything to me. She had a close resemblance to Joel at the time of birth, but she now looks like me because of her green eyes and blonde hair, but she also resembles Joel.”
Although she loves being a mother, Nicole believes it is important to spend some time away from Harlow.
She revealed to Vivi magazine: “I wear jeans and a T-shirt and no make-up when I am with my daughter. But I take care of my adult time too. I like to go to restaurants and bars in high-heeled shoes and dresses when I have free time. Because I am still 27 years old, you know?”

Kelly Clarkson is desperate for love.
The ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’ singer is on the hunt for a boyfriend because she “badly” wants to fall in love for the first time.
She said: “I’ve never been in love. I want to be so badly - I’m a hopeless romantic, but I haven’t been there yet. I’d prefer to wait for the right one than settle for second best.”
The 26-year-old beauty - who won the first series of hit TV talent show ‘American Idol’ - has found it hard to trust men since an ex-boyfriend treated her badly.
She said: “I don’t think I’d fall in love easily - I had a boyfriend, who I discovered was only with me because he wanted to be famous. Oh, and he had a girlfriend the entire time we were together. I can spot a cheat a mile off these days. I was hurt but karma’s a b***h and I’m sure he’ll reap what he sowed.”
Although she is looking for a man, Kelly won’t settle for anybody and says any prospective boyfriend would need to have some very specific attributes.
She explained to Britain’s Cosmopolitan magazine: “A good sense of humour is essential. And I like a man with facial hair! He also need to be independent - it’s so easy to lose yourself when you’re in a relationship, so I like a man who already has a strong sense of what he wants out of life. I love my career and being independent, so if I’m going to make time for a man, he has to be worth it.”

Lindsay Lohan to record Britney track

Lindsay Lohan is planning to cover a Britney Spears song.
The actress-and-singer - who is believed to currently be working on her third album - is keen to rework one of the pop star’s biggest hits.
A source said: “Lindsay is on the Britney bandwagon. She is hoping to cover ‘Womanizer’ or ‘Oops! … I Did It Again’.”
Lindsay became good friends with the 27-year-old singer in 2006, shortly after Britney filed for divorce from Kevin Federline.
The pair, along with socialite Paris Hilton, were regularly seen partying together in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and were both photographed by the paparazzi not wearing any underwear.
Lindsay’s latest record ‘Spirit in the Dark’ is reportedly packed with guest appearances, including Ne-Yo, Akon, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Kanye West and Timbaland.
The 22-year-old star - who is dating DJ Samantha Ronson, the sister of super-producer Mark Ronson - recently claimed Pharrell Williams was also desperate to collaborate with her.
She said: “Pharrell is amazing. He said, ‘I’d love to make a great record with you, but I want to take you out of all the elements that you’re used to. Let’s go somewhere nice where you can be focused.’ ”
Lindsay’s pop career started with her recording songs for the films she starred in, including ‘Herbie: Fully Loaded’ and ‘Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen’.
She then released two albums ‘Speak’ in 2004 and ‘A Little More Personal (Raw)’ in 2005.

Miley Cyrus snubbed by Radiohead

Radiohead refused to speak to Miley Cyrus.
The ‘Hannah Montana’ star is “obsessed” with the alternative rock band, but when she saw them at the Grammy Awards last month they wouldn’t acknowledge her.
Miley said: “My manager asked and said, ‘Miley, she’s really obsessed and she’d really like to meet them,’ and they were like, ‘Yeah, we don’t really do that.’
“I left because I was so upset. I wasn’t going to watch!
“I’d already texted all my friends, we were all freaking out. This is someone who I would have cried to have met. Stinking Radiohead!”
This is not the first rejection 16-year-old Miley has suffered.
She recently revealed her school days were “friendless, lonely and miserable”.
Writing in her new book ‘Miley Cyrus: Miles To Go’, she recollects: “The girls took it beyond normal bullying. These were big, tough girls. I was scrawny and short. They were fully capable of doing me bodily harm.”

Rihanna’s family pray for prison

Rihanna’s family hope Chris Brown is jailed.
Chris, 19, has been charged with two felonies - assault and making criminal threats - for his alleged attack on the ‘Umbrella’ singer and her loved ones hope he receives the maximum sentence of four years and eight months in prison if found guilty.
One relative said: “It’s about time. He should be in jail. He deserves whatever he gets.”
Chris reportedly punched, bit and choked Rihanna until she was unconscious after they began arguing in his rented silver Lamborghini on February 8.
Rihanna’s father Ronald Fenty has spoken out about the incident, claiming no punishment could excuse Chris’ behaviour.
Speaking about how he felt when Chris was charged, Ronald said: “I don’t know how to react. Chris is a very talented guy. I still think he’s a little immature for Rihanna. Justice can never be served in this situation. He can’t feel the pain she felt.
“I don’t believe in hitting a woman. I hope everything works out better for them. I don’t feel happy or sad. He’s in the court’s hands. Let justice prevail.”
Ronald has not been in regular contact with his daughter since the incident, but says he is still supporting her.
He told Us Weekly magazine: “I can’t get on to her. Her mother can’t get on to her, her brother told me she changed her email. Somebody has a stranglehold on her. I’m lost.
“Anyone in my family, I’m there for them. All of my kids, I’m there for them. Rihanna’s no exception. All of them I would support.”
Asked what message he had for Chris, he replied: “I would tell Chris, ‘Don’t ever try again, don’t even think about it.’ I’m hurt and disturbed at that scenario.”
Although Chris and Rihanna initially split following the reported incident, they are now believed to have married at P. Diddy’s Miami home last weekend.
Rihanna’s representatives have refused to confirm or deny the allegation, saying: “We aren’t able to offer anything right now but will keep you posted if that changes.”
